Description: The most complete continental fossil record discovered from the Triassic Period (245-208 million years ago) are located within two contiguous parks that extend over 275,300 ha in the desert region of the western border of Sierra Pampeanas in central Argentina. The character of palaeo-environments of the Triassic Period and vertebrate evolution are revealed within the park's six geological formations, where fossils of a variety of mammal ancestors, as well as dinosaurs and plants can be found. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.
