Description: Some of the best and most extensive examples of Atlantic forest in Brazil can be found in the Atlantic Forest South-East Reserves, situated in the states of Paraná and São Paulo. The site is made up of 25 protected areas, stretching some 470,000 ha in total, that display the biological wealth and evolutionary history of the last remaining Atlantic forests. The area consists of an affluent natural environment of great scenic beauty: comprising of wetlands, densely-forested mountains, coastal islands with isolated mountains and dunes. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.
