Description: Standing in a wild, spectacular landscape is the largest group of religious monuments and megalithic sculptures in South America. Gods and mythical animals are expertly represented in a range of styles, varying from abstract to realist. These artistic examples exhibit the creativity and imagination of a northern Andean culture that thrived from the 1st to the 8th century. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.
