Description: The city, founded during the 16th century in honour of the Holy Trinity, was a bridgehead for the conquest of the American continent. The 18th- and 19th-centuries were the days of prosperity from the sugar trade, and their affluence saw the building of great architectural monuments, such as the Palacio Brunet and the Palacio Cantero. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.
Trinidad is a town in the province of Sancti Spíritus, central Cuba. Together with the nearby Valle de los Ingenios, it has been one of UNESCOs World Heritage sites since 1988. --Wikipedia. Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.
