Description: One of the most significant prehistoric sites in the eastern Mediterranean is the Neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia, which was occupied from the 7th to the 4th millennium B.C. The ruins and archaeological artifacts found during excavations shed light on the evolution of human society in this historically significant region. Because only partly excavated, the site provides exceptional potential for future archaeological research. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.
