Description: The 100,000 ha Rwenzori Mountains National Park in western Uganda encompasses the core part of the Rwenzori mountain chain, which contains Africa's third highest peak, the 5,109 m Mount Margherita. This is one of Africa's most beautiful alpine areas, with its waterfalls and lakes. The park holds countless natural habitats of endangered species and a prosperous and abnormal flora consisting of, amongst other species, the giant heather. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.
Ruwenzori Mountains National Park is a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Ruwenzori Mountains of Uganda. It includes approximately 1,000 square kilometres of land.
