Description: Known as the City of Victory, Fatehpur Sikri was built during the late 16th century by the Emperor Akbar, and acted as the capital of the Mughal Empire for only about 10 years. The complex of monuments and temples, the whole of which is unified in its architectural style, incorporates one of the largest Indian mosques, the Jama Masjid. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.   Fatehpur Sikri (Hindi: फतेहपूर सिकरी, Urdu: فتحپور سیکری) is a city and a municipal board in Agra district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It was the political capital of India's Mughal Empire under Akbar's reign, from 1571 until 1585, when it was abandoned, ostensibly due to lack of water. It is located in what is now Uttar Pradesh, India. --Wikipedia. Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License. For 360 degree imaging of this site, click here.
