Description: Lying mainly in Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi provinces, the South China Karst region extends over a surface of half a million km², representing an example of the world’s most spectacular humid tropical to subtropical karst landscapes. Superlative natural phenomena, the stone forests of Shilin have a wider range of pinnacle shapes than other karst landscapes with a higher diversity of shapes and changing colours. The cone and tower karsts of Libo that form a distinctive and beautiful landscape are regarded as the world reference site for these types of karst. The site’s Wulong Karst was inscribed on behalf of its giant dolines (sinkholes), natural bridges and caves. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.
