Description: Architect Luis Barragán’s House and Studio, which were built in the suburbs of Mexico City in 1948, are an exceptional illustration of the architect’s creative labor in the period following the Second World War. The 1,161 m2 concrete building is composed of a ground floor with a small private garden as well as two upper storeys. Barragán’s work incorporated modern as well as traditional artistic and local styles and elements all cohesively formed into an innovative fusion, which has been of great influence particularly in the present-day design of gardens, plazas and landscapes. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.
